Shingle Creek Regional Park is the best way for visitors to see the real Florida. Phase 1 of the trail is complete and while it's not a long ride for cyclists, it's a nice walk.
On the south side it begins at the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum. You can walk northward and then cross the bridge over to the Pioneer Village. So great! You can learn more about Florida in one afternoon in this collection of goodness than you ever could by reading a book.
If you go south from the Welcome Center, you will go under US 192 and soon come upon the Paddling Center and some other very nice historical buildings.
This is a great way to entertain guests from out of town, or get the kids out on an expedition. Or even as a play-date with your favorite friend or special someone.
Here's a little video taken last year on the Shingle Creek. It's beautiful.
